A graduate of the University of British Columbia, with a degree in Kinesiology and Health Science, Kalthoff is currently working on a Master’s degree in Exercise Science from Edith Cowan University, in addition to working as the Head Strength and Conditioning coach for McMaster Volleyball, Basketball and Soccer.
As an athlete, Zach’s soccer experience includes professional contracts with both Southampton FC (youth) and Kaiserslautern FC (senior) from ages 15-19. During this time, he was a Canadian National Youth Team member and capped his international career off as a member of the Canadian FIFA U20 World Cup squad in 2007. Playing reserve team soccer in Europe, he billeted and played with well-known soccer players including Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott and Adam Lallana. Following his European soccer career, he played two seasons of varsity soccer at the University of British Columbia, followed by two seasons as an assistant coach with the program. In his four years, the UBC Thunderbirds won two national championships as well as a national silver medal.
